cPanel Hosting Clarified

For your info, it's useful to know that the majority of the cPanel website hosting offers on the present website hosting market are provided by a quite insignificant business segment (as far as annual cash flow is concerned) named hosting reseller. Reseller website hosting is a sort of a small-scale business niche, which supplies a vast amount of different web hosting trademarks, yet furnishing strictly the same thing: mostly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because at least ninety eight percent of the web hosting offers on the entire website hosting market supply literally the same thing: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel-based website hosting price tags are identical. Quite similar. Giving those who require a top web hosting service virtually no other website hosting platform/hosting CP choice. So, there is only one fact: out of more than 200,000 website hosting brand names in the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than 2 percent, note that one...

200,000 "website hosting suppliers", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely labeled

The website hosting "variety" and the web hosting "offerings" Google presents to us come down to merely one and the very same thing: cPanel. Under hundreds of 1000's of different web hosting trademarked names. Suppose you are merely a normal fellow who's not very well acquainted with (as most of us) with the web page creation procedures and the web hosting platforms, which in fact power the respective domain names and sites. Are you prepared to make your hosting choice? Is there any web hosting variant you can opt for? Sure there is, as of now there are more than 200k website hosting vendors in existence. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98% of these more than two hundred thousand unique web hosting brands worldwide will offer you literally the same cPanel website hosting Control Panel and platform, labeled differently, with the same price tags! WOW! That's how immense the assortment on today's website hosting marketplace is... Period.

The website hosting LOTTERY we are all participating in

Simple math shows that to chance upon a non-cPanel based web hosting vendor is a mammoth stroke of fortune. There is a less than one in 50 chance that an event like that will take place! Less than 1 in 50...

The strong and weak sides of the cPanel-based website hosting solution

Let's not be relentless with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was fashionable and possibly met all website hosting industry prerequisites. To put it briefly, cPanel can do the job for you if you have just one domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Inconvenience Number 1: A laughable domain name folder structure

If you have 2 or more domains, however, be ultra attentive not to delete entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will call each new hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain name). The files of the add-on domains are quite easy to delete on the web hosting server, because they all are situated into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder located inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to erase the files of the add-on domain names, please. See for yourself how fabulous cPanel's domain folder arrangement is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is placed)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you growing baffled? We undoubtedly are!

Drawback No.2: The very same mail folder arrangement

The electronic mail folder arrangement on the web server is precisely the same as that of the domains... Repeating the very same error twice?!? The admin blokes strongly enhance their belief in God when dealing with the e-mail folders on the mail server, praying not to screw things up too fatally.

Weakness No.3: A total absence of domain name administration sections

Do we have to cite the utter lack of a modern domain administration interface - a place where you can: register/migrate/renew/park or manage domains, modify domain names' Whois details, shield the Whois info, edit/set up nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not offer such a "modern" tool at all. That's a mammoth drawback. An inexcusable one, we want to point out...

Negative Point Number Four: Multiple login locations (min two, max 3)

What about the necessity for another login to access the invoicing, domain and tech support administration system? That's beside the cPanel account login credentials you've been already provided by the cPanel-based website hosting company. Now and then, based on the invoice transaction platform (especially designed for cPanel only) the cPanel website hosting provider is using, the earnest users can end up with two extra logins (1: the billing transaction/domain name management interface; 2: the trouble ticket support section), ending up with a total of 3 user login locations (including cPanel).

Negative Aspect Number Five: More than 120 website hosting CP areas to become familiar with... swiftly

cPanel offers for your consideration more than 120 sections inside the website hosting Control Panel. It's a terrific idea to grasp each one of them. And you'd better get familiar with them briskly... That's very impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due appreciation, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based website hosting providers:

As far as we are aware of, it's not the year 2001, is it? Remark that one as well...
